Meghalaya: Shillong observes Army Day at 101 Area

SHILLONG:

Army Day was observed at Headquarters 101 Area on Friday.

Major General HS Shanbhag, Officiating General Officer Commanding, 101 Area, laid a wreath at the Rhino Prerna Sthal (New War Memorial) to honour the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

The country celebrates National Army Day every year in recognition of Field Marshal KM Cariappa taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army on January 15, 1949.
