NONGSTOIN:

Members of the Senglongkmie of Nongtraw village, in West Khasi Hills, were reportedly attacked by illegal alcohol suppliers on January 11 and 12.

The incidents occurred during inspections carried out by members of the Senglongkmie.

Two of the Senglongkmie members and one Village Defense Party (VDP) member were injured during the incident.

The Dorbar Shnong Nongtraw along with the VDP and Senglongkmie later filed a First Information Report (FIR), at Nongstoin Police Station against Entina Ryntong, the owner of a shop supplying illegal alcohol.

Endrius Ryntong, Headman of Nongtraw village, expressed his concern over the increase of anti-social elements in the village and said that the Dorbar Shnong had asked the Police Department to take strong action against the offender.
