Meghalaya: School building inaugurated in Nongpoh

Dr. D.D Lapang, Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya on 11 January inaugurated the new school building of Alpha English Higher Secondary School in Nongpoh, which was sanctioned by the state government of Meghalaya under the SHCD project of the Asian Development Bank(ADB).

The school building was constructed at an estimated amount of ₹ 2 crore.

The inauguration programme of the new school building was held following COVID-19 protocols, it was also attended by local legislator Mayral Born Syiem, Balajied Rani, MDC, the Principal of the school W.K Blah among other officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Lapang said, “It is an immense pleasure to associate with the school management, parents and mostly students, I would like to appreciate and congratulate the managing committee and the teachers for their services for the bright future of school children.”

He also urged them to carry on their services by rendering the best quality of education to the school children right from the grassroot level.

Dr Lapang said that every student must have the spirit of gratitude to their parents, teachers and elders as “Gratitude is the language of their heart”.

He also said that it is imperative to work hard and aim high in whatever they pursue so that would be someone in future with honour and dignity.
