Meghalaya road blockade: Shillong streets wear deserted look

 |

SHILLONG:

The streets of Shillong wore a deserted look on Monday, the 15th of February, as vehicles (except for a few) stayed off the roads in view of the road blockade called by the Meghalaya Joint Action Committee of Commercial Vehicles in the entire state, in protest against the fuel price rise.

Very few shops and business establishments remained open and government offices also witnessed low attendance, though the official percentage is yet to be received.

It may be reminded that the Meghalaya Joint Action Committee of Commercial Vehicles had intensified its agitation starting Monday after talks with the state government reached another roadblock.

Meanwhile, the state government is examining the possibilities of further reducing the fuel prices.
