Meghalaya: Psychotropic drugs seized, two arrested from Tura

West Garo Hills Police arrested two individuals from Akhonggre and Sepoy Colony in Tura and seized an enormous amount of psychotropic substances.

According to sources, the Anti-Narcotics Trafficking Force (ANTF) received a tip-off and arrested the two suspects later identified as Ashit Modak (28) of Sepoy Colony and Christon Sangma of Akhonggre.

The operation was led by the CI Sadar and supervised by the SDPO along with the ANTF.

The raid led to the recovery of 192 SPSPHEN (tramadol hydrochloride acetaminophen dicyclomine hydrochloride capsules) and 740 orange-coloured tablets weighing 71.11 grams.

Police believe the orange-coloured tablets to be Yaba tablets.

“We have registered a case under the NDPS Act, with all legal formalities being observed after the arrest. We are also investigating the entire process and are hopeful of nabbing more members of the same supply syndicate,” WGH SP, Dr M.G.R Kumar said.

One of the suspects Christon was forwarded to the Court, whereas the other suspect is undergoing treatment after testing positive for COVID-19.
