Meghalaya Police seize 10 soapboxes of heroin from locality in Shillong

Meghalaya Police recovered ten soapboxes containing heroin, packed in a carton box, from Madanriting locality in Shillong, Meghalaya on Monday evening.

According to the East Khasi Hills (EKH) district police, information was received that a woman, identified as Rachel Niangboi (38) of Madanriting, had in her possession a consignment of suspected banned contraband.

"Accordingly, independent witnesses were arranged from the area and, as per CrPC/NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) procedures, a search was conducted by the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of EKH," read a release issued by the EKH police on Monday.

The preliminary test came positive for heroin; the total net weight of the suspect heroin was found to be 107.78 grams.

"An NDPS case is being registered at Madanriting police station," the release stated.
