Meghalaya Police recover GNLA's weapons from Nengmadalgre jungle

East Garo Hills (EGH) police team recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Nengmadalgre jungle beyond the Simsang river, on Thursday.

Acting upon information from reliable sources, the EGH police team today launched an immediate search operation in and around Nengmandalgre jungle and recovered 85 rounds of 7.71 mm ammunition of Sniper Rifle.

The weapons were brought to Williamnagar police station for verification.

"A case is being registered for further investigation," officials said adding that a search is going on to recover more weapons.

"East Garo Hills police have been successfully recovering hidden armaments that have been buried by late Sohan D Shira, the self-styled commander-in-chief of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA)," officials added.
