Meghalaya Police conducts passing out parade of Unarmed Branch Constables at Umran Ri-Bhoi

Meghalaya Police on Friday held the passing out parade (POP) ceremony of its 41st batch of Unarmed Branch Constable at Police Training School, Umran Ri-Bhoi.

The POP was attended by H. Nongpluh, IPS Additional Director General of Police (SB/CID), Meghalaya, Shillong as the Chief Guest, including other officials from the department.

A total of fifty-six constables, comprising ten women and forty-six men were said to have participated in the POP, mentioned the press release by Meghalaya Police department.

They all have undergone eleven months effective training both on Outdoor and Indoor subjects, it added.

"They were trained on a wide range of topics involving techniques and skill, physical training, handling of tactical weapons and handling of Law and Order situation; the indoor curriculum included subjects like Major Acts, Minor Acts, APM and imparting of training on Gender Sensitization, Human Rights and Community Policing."

Speaking on the occasion, Nongpluh said that the Recruit Constables should give their best effort in performing their duties and to protect, the system, emphasising on the uniformity of the disciplined force.

The parade ended with a performance by the band display from 1st MLP Battalion, Mawiong.
