Meghalaya police bust illegal toll gate in Ri Bhoi district

The Ri Bhoi District Border Magistrate along with the Meghalaya police busted one illegal toll gate allegedly erected by people from Assam at Madan Umwang on February 21.

The local people of Raid Nongtung (Block-II) said that they had been harassed frequently while transporting agricultural products, especially brooms and other goods.

They have been complaining about their grievances regarding the illegal toll gate for the past few months.

According to sources, the toll gate at Madan Umwang in Ri Bhoi district was erected illegally.

On getting the information, the Border Magistrate of Ri Bhoi District Raja Brahma accompanied by Mawlasnai Police Outpost In-charge J Phawa, and SI R. Nongrum inspected the area and uprooted the illegal toll gate.

During the inspection of the Border Magistrate and Meghalaya Police, the illegal toll staff had been absconding.
