The Marngar Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Meghalaya's Ri Bhoi, identified as an 'Aspirational District' among the 115 districts across the nation, has recorded 'Zero' maternal and newborn deaths in the last three years.
According to Medical Officer Dr J Syiem, although the PHC is mandated with less manpower, the Centre continues to function as a public wellness centre in Ri Bhoi district.
Covering almost 52 villages under its belt, the PHC has endured all hardships to render the utmost service to the public, said Dr Syiem.
The Medical Officer further stated the health care centre will continue to focus on improving and rendering its services to the public so that more attention towards health care can be undertaken.
She also urged the Health Department to provide more equipment including better infrastructures, manpower, storeroom, refrigerator, better facility in the labour room and staff quarters.
Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem paid a visit to the Marngar PHC on Monday and inspected the quality services being provided by the health care centre, where he lauded the efforts rendered by all health care workers.
