Meghalaya: One dead, two injured in road mishap in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH: One person succumbed and two sustained injuries, in a car accident that took place at Umsning Bypass near Patarim village, Ri Bhoi District, on February 19.

According to police sources, an Alto K10 car bearing registration number ML 05 P 6559 with three females inside, rammed into the rear side of a stationary truck, while on their way to Nongpoh.

Reportedly, the accident occurred at around 12:00 pm.

All the injured persons were rushed to Umsning CHC, but Jacqueline Syiemlieh of Lawsohtun, East Khasi Hills was declared brought dead.

The other two injured were identified as Lakmenshisha Marwein of Mawlai Mawdatbaki and Shimtilin L. Nonglait of Mawlein, Ri Bhoi district.

Shimtilin L Nonglait was later referred to Civil Hospital Shillong for further treatment as she sustained grievous injury.

The driver lost control over the wheel and rammed the rear side of the truck, added the police.

Police also informed that an investigation is on regarding the accident.
