15-year-old Sengchi A Sangma, who was involved in the horrific crash of Nongalbibra, after attaining some physical stability in the past week, will undergo multiple operation on January 20.

On January 12, Sengchi, along with many others, were returning home when their vehicle hit a parked truck at high speed, leading to 4 persons losing their lives on the spot.

Sengchi, along with the driver, Badal Lama and the 7-year-old Arian Sangma, now deceased, were rushed to Guwahati for further treatment.

While the driver, Lama, is said to be out of danger, Sengchi, though conscious, is undergoing a physical battle. The 15-year-old had suffered extreme damage to her face and shoulder.

“She cannot eat as her jaw has been dislocated and is being fed through tubes. Doctors in Guwahati have informed that she has gained enough physical stability to undergo an operation on both her jaw and shoulder. We are just hopeful things get better for her,” said John Sangma, who is spearheading a funding campaign for the victims of the incident.

Another accident victim, who is currently in Williamnagar, is being treated locally and is said to be responding to treatment, and the other in Nongalbibra is said to be getting better.
