TURA:

Various NGOs of the Damal Asim area under the Dadenggre Subdivision in West Garo Hills, on October 31, submitted a memorandum to Power Minister James Sangma, seeking his attention regarding several developmental demands of the area as it falls under the Power Minister’s constituency.

The NGOs, including the FKJGP, GSU, FAF, ADE and AYWO, demanded the repair of the road between Damal Asim and the sub-divisional headquarter, Dadenggre.

“This is the main road used by the people of the area to move between these two places for necessary works in Dadenggre. It is in a pathetic condition and used for business and study purposes. The road requires an immediate repair, and we request that they look into it at the earliest,” stated the NGOs in the memo.

Besides this, the NGOs demanded the up-gradation of the Damal Asim UP School to a full-fledged government high secondary school.

“As we are lack school facilities in our village, being the oldest UP school of Damal Asim, it deserves an upgrade for the better interest of the student community and people of the area,” they added.

The NGOs also asked for the development of the Damal Asim police station with a new building.

Currently, the inspection bungalow (IB) is a police station, and this has led to the people of the region being unable to use it.

The NGOs also demanded the formation of a C&RD Block in Damal Asim which they said, would bring the administration closer to the people of the area.
