Meghalaya NGO questions genuineness of resident applying for residency

TURA:

The All Meghalaya Minority Students’ Union (AMMSU) on February 5 filed a complaint with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) against one applicant applying for residency with alleged fake documents.

As per AMMSU, Mostafa Ahmed has applied for a voter’s ID with documents that are "fake", claiming to be a resident of Mahendraganj constituency under South West Garo Hills (SWGH) district of Meghalaya.

“He is not a bonafide citizen of Meghalaya, and his name does not even figure in the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Whatever document he has submitted is fake as the address he has given for his EPIC, belongs to someone else,” said AMMSU president Nur Islam.

The NGO has sought an impartial inquiry into the matter while seeking action against the person if the allegations against him turn out to be true.
