Meghalaya: New acting dean appointed at Central Agricultural University

SHILLONG: Following the protest and pressure by different groups on the alleged sexual molestation by the Dean of a premier educational institute of Post Graduate under the Central Agricultural University (CAU), the headquarter of the university from Imphal removed Jitendra Chauhan from the post of Dean and has appointed Prof. Pradip Kumar Bora as the new Acting Dean.

The molestation case came to light after two women who were working as casual labour at the university filed an FIR at Umiam Police Station against Jitendra Chauhan, and the case was registered at Nongpoh Women Police Station.

The Khasi Students Union which took note on the issue thronged the university campus along with the Worker Union of the university, including students of ICAR to demand legal action and termination of the Dean who was alleged to be involved in the molestation case.

According to an official source from the CAU, formal intimidation had been sent to the headquarter of the university at Imphal informing the incident and reports in which High Power Committee has also constituted to inquire on the incident and a new Dean had been appointed for the time being until the inquiry is completed.
