Meghalaya: Murder suspected after body of PWD chowkidar found in Tura

Meghalaya police recovered a body of a chowkidar at the Public Works Department (PWD) on March 8, and the police ruled his death a murder after the head of the victim was allegedly bashed in.

According to reports, Sapenson G Sangma, who used to sleep in the PWD (Road) mechanical division office, was possibly attacked by unidentified miscreants leading to multiple head injuries leading to his death.

The body of Sangma was found at 9:15 am after a call was made to the Araimil Beat House from the PWD (R) Mechanical Division.

An inquiry into the death revealed that Sangma had multiple injuries on his head and was lying in a pool of blood when his body was discovered.

“An FIR has been lodged and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. We have observed all formalities and handed over the body of the victim to their relatives for the last rites,” said Superintendent of police, WGH, Dr MGR Kumar.
