Meghalaya: Miscreants abduct Sordar Shnong in Ri Bhoi district

A group on unknown miscreants abducted the Sordar Shnong of Warmawsaw in West Ri-Bhoi district on January 9.

The incident happened at around 10 pm, when a group of men barged into his residence and kidnapped him.

According to sources, “A group of 4 to 5 masked men armed with pistol and machete entered the house of the Sordar Shnong of Marmawsaw Manason Doloi, threatening the family members, and later abducted him.”

Giving details about the incident, Comfort Doloi, a resident of West Ri-Bhoi informed, “The shocking incident has kept residents of the village under fear since then.”

He alleged that the miscreants belong to Assam, and after abducting the headman, they fled through Balakhlapara.

He also informed that an FIR had been lodged at Patharkhmah Police Outpost and the hunt to release the Sordar from the grip of the kidnappers is on.

The local legislator of Jirang constituency, Sosthenes Sohtun, has condemned the incident and also demanded the police department to take swift action against the culprits and to trace the abducted sordar at the earliest.
