Meghalaya: Man sentenced to life for murder in West Khasi Hills

NONGSTOIN: The Session Court, West Khasi Hills on December 17, convicted a person on a charge of murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The accused person Thomborlin Marwein was imposed with a fine of ₹ 60,000 (Rupees Sixty Thousand).

Superintendent of Police West Khasi Hills District, H. G Lyngdoh said, “The accused was convicted, for a murder that was reported on October 12, 2011 where one unidentified dead body had been found in the jungle by the villagers from Singra, under West Khasi Hills.

The matter was immediately reported to Nongstoin Police Station, following which a case was registered against the convict.

“On enquiry and due to the immense efforts by our officers and staff, the accused person was arrested immediately and after a thorough investigation on the case, the honourable Session court had given a favourable judgement,” said H. G Lyngdoh.
