Meghalaya: Man dies in accident near Panda Reserve

BAGHMARA

A resident of Baghmara in South Garo Hills (SGH) lost his life after the truck he was driving apparently fell into a nearby gorge within the Panda Reserve Forest, close to the border village of Rongara.

The vehicle was on its way to Rongara from Baghmara.

Jeten T Sangma (28), the driver of the vehicle lost his life during the incident.

Sources said that the area where the incident took place is extremely remote and with little human population. It was on the morning of 28 November that the villagers saw the pick-up truck following, which the authorities were informed.

The owner informed the local police officials in Baghmara who then rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the victim before he was handed over to his family following procedures being followed.
