Meghalaya IPR Minister inaugurates Fixed Audio System in Shillong

SHILLONG:

Meghalaya Information & Public Relations Minister James Sangma on January 25, inaugurated the Fixed Audio System (FAS) of the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) in Shillong, East Khasi Hills.

Addressing the gathering, Sangma said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has taught all of us the importance of having credible and timely information. Fixed Audio System will strengthen the mechanism of delivering quick and timely information to the public regarding government orders, policies, subsidies, immunisation drives, health camps and other welfare schemes.”

He also lauded the efforts of the DIPR for successfully implementing the project, which would help the department communicate and connect with every citizen of the state in a better way.

Sangma also expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma for sanctioning the budget for the project.

“The DIPR could successfully implement the Fixed Audio System only after the approval from the CM. This initiative is in line with the vision of the department in publicising different programmes, welfare measures and developmental activities for the benefit of the people,” Sangma said.

Meanwhile, DIPR Secretary M. War Nongbri said that the installation of the Fixed Audio System will enable announcements to be made to single or multiple speakers as per requirements.

She also urged the minister in charge to come up with such initiatives and projects in different districts of the state for the benefit of the public.

While delivering the vote of thanks, the Deputy Director, DIPR, R. Nongkhlaw lauded Melamiaki Infracon for successfully implementing the project and installing internet protocol (IP) powered speakers at 21 strategic locations around Shillong.

Others present during the inauguration included Information & Public Relations Secretary, East Khasi Hills, M. War Nongbri, the Deputy Director of Information & Public Relations, R. Nongkhlaw, and other senior officials of the department.
