Meghalaya: Iewduh to resume business with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols

The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills Isawanda Laloo, in a press release on September 13, informed that shops in Iewduh (Bara Bazar) with 1245 shops, will be allowed to open for three days in a week between 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, with 623 shops to open per day.

"Operation of shops shall strictly adhere to the prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of Government and mandatory compliance to all the Advisories of Health and Family Welfare Department, without fail," said Laloo.

"The Syiem of Hima Mylliem shall ensure due to compliance by the shop owners to the norms, protocols and advisories of Government in the Health & Family Welfare Department with special and strict reference to Social Distancing concerning the COVID -19 situation," she added.

The order also asked people to adhere to the health guidelines like social distancing, wearing masks, refraining from spitting in public places, hand hygiene for safety.

It mentioned that shoppers and shopkeepers should cooperate with the management made by Syiem of Hima Mylliem and District Police.

Citizens who violate the norms will be dealt as per the law and may also result in the closure of shops, she alerted.
