The National Working President of the NPP Youth Front, Nickey Nongkhlaw, was also present during the distribution programme.

While addressing the gathering, M. Basaiawmoit extended her heartiest greetings on the occasion of Christmas and New Year and said, ‘’The girls’ home housed with 45 siblings are blessed to live together under one roof and have each other.”

The members of the NPP women's wing also distributed clothes to 45 children between the ages of 6 and 18 as a gesture of goodwill in keeping up with the festive season.

Basaiawmoit also praised the children for their ability to withstand difficulties, especially with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

“The home is for 60 children and focuses on the best interests of the child. The home also has many classes in terms of sewing, baking, music and cooking. The children get the opportunity to showcase their work in various fields under the Social Welfare Department. We are all happy to have the NPP women’s wing visit us for the first time,” the probationary officer of the Girls’ Home, C. Ryntathiang, said.

We may note that the girls and staff members at the AWT Girls’ Home contracted COVID-19 in November 2020.
