SHILLONG | SEPT 14, 2020:

Meghalaya Health Minister and BJP MLA Alexander Laloo Hek said that he will insist upon the state government to carry out a proper inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of central funds in the two Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in the State – the Jaiñtia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) and Garo Hills Autonomous District Councils (GHADC).

"As the BJP MLA, I will take up the issue raised by the party on the alleged misappropriation of funds in the two ADCs. These are serious allegations which need to be properly investigated," Hek told reporters in the city on Monday.

Hek stated that he will also write to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to ask him to look into this matter as the party has come out with facts and figures while levying allegations of corruption charges in both the JHADC and GHADC.
"We cannot just remain mum on this issue. It is the duty of the Government to find out if there is any truth on the allegations made by the State BJP," Hek said.

When asked if the BJP is firm on withdrawing support from the NPP-led MDA Government, Hek said that the state leadership could not take a final call on the matter.

"We will have to apprise the central party leadership if party leadership in the state feels that the situation warrants to withdraw support from the present MDA Government. A final decision on withdrawing of support will depend on the party central leadership," he said.

When asked about the ongoing mud-slinging between BJP state president Ernest Mawrie and NPP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Wanwei Roy Kharlukhi, Hek replied by stating that the mudslinging between the two-party leaders should end.

"It does not look good for the two leaders to continue with their war of words. We should not forget that both BJP and NPP are still part and parcel of the ruling coalition government in the state," he said.

On being asked whether the BJP is unhappy as the party MDC has not been made part of the Executive Committee in the JHADC, Hek said that he had already spoken to JHADC Chief Executive Member Thombor Shiwat to induct the party MDC as an Executive Member.

According to him, the JHADC CEM had assured that he will look into the matter.
