Meghalaya: GSU criticises poor quality of Karukol road

TURA:

The Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Karukol unit in South Garo Hills, criticised the ‘extremely poor’ construction of a road in the area.

The road connects National Highway-62 to Karukol School.

“The work by the contractor is not proper and seems to benefit him more than the people of the area,” the union alleged.

“The Public Works Department (PWD) must look into the said road construction and ensure the same as per the project report,” the union stated.

“What is being done is not to anyone’s liking in the area, as the road will not last. We need proper quality in the road's development, and the department should be strict on this,” the President of the Karukol regional unit, A.Z Matsram Marak said.

“If the situation is not taken care of and better construction (is) undertaken, we will launch agitations until the same is corrected,” he added.
