Meghalaya Govt reduces VAT on diesel and petrol

Meghalaya government in a slew of measures to reduce the fuel prices in the state has announced a reduction of ₹ 5 for both petrol and diesel.

The reduction on petrol which is currently standing at 30.62 per cent will now be reduced to 20 per cent or ₹ 15 per litre. Whereas the Value-added tax (VAT) on diesel at 22.95 per cent or ₹ 12 per litre will now be reduced to 12 percent or ₹ 9 per litre.

According to sources, the price of petrol in Meghalaya will be slashed from ₹ 91.26 to ₹ 85.86 and diesel from ₹ 84.23 to ₹ 79.13.
