Meghalaya girl makes state proud, comes third in Assam Got Talent

An 8-year-old Begun Ali Sha Islam from the border town of Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills (WGH) district of Meghalaya bagged the third position in the grand finale of Assam Got Talent (AGT) Season – 5 that concluded on December 25.

The 8-year-old Begun is a student of Class III in the St Mary’s Public School of Tikrikilla and, has always been an avid fan of dancing and singing.

“Our daughter expressed interest in dancing and singing. Seeing her interest in the art, we encouraged her to participate in various competitions in the local and regional level. Seeing that she wanted to take part on a larger platform, we included her name in the auditions to Assam’s Got Talent (AGT),” said a proud father of the 8-year-old, Azizul Islam.

The parents’ joy knew no bounds after the 8-year-old was selected through the audition before joining the main competition in Guwahati, Assam.

“She performed well in the competition and through the blessings of all managed to get the 2nd runners up prize from the competition. We are still to get over the feeling of elation from what she has achieved at such a young age,” added the father.

Begun was also given a cheque of Rs 5000 along with a trophy. Further, she has also been given a 25 per cent scholarship from an Indian music record label, T-Series as part of the award.

“We have bigger dreams for her now and want her to be part of the national dance and singing talent competitions, including India’s Got Talent, Dance Fight, which are likely to be held in January next year. We are proud parents and hope she achieves much more in the future as well,” added a beaming Islam.
