TURA:

Employees of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) under the aegis of the Non-Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) have written to the Governor of Meghalaya, Satya Pal Malik, seeking the expulsion of the secretary of the Council, Rikse Marak.

The employees further requested that they be paid from the ₹ 18.2 crore received by the GHADC in the revised scale.

As per the employees, the amount has already been received by the secretary who, they alleged, has been trying to use the funds for the clearance of contractors' bills.

The NGEA also informed the Governor of their rejection of one month’s salary in the pre-revised scale that was being offered to them.

“During this festive season, the priority should have been our salaries. We have informed the administrator on the matter as well, despite which, the secretary’s actions have been against the welfare of the employees,” the employees added.

They also cited that the order of the Deputy Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, W. Rapthap had, in November, directed the secretary to clear the outstanding dues of the employees.
