Meghalaya: DM promulgates Section 144 in East Garo Hills

WILLIAMNAGAR :

The District Magistrate of East Garo Hills has promulgated Section 144 CrPc across the entire district from Wednesday.

According to the order, operation of all weekly markets and the movement of individuals between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am will be prohibited.

The order, however, allows the plying of public and private vehicles with 50 per cent capacity, four-wheeler vehicles with two persons and two-wheelers with a pillion rider.

The order further stated that shops, including the CSCs, would open daily from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

However, curfew shall not apply to pharmacies, clinics, nursing homes, hospitals, medical laboratories and other essential services.

Educational institutions and the places of worship are to adhere to the SOPs issued earlier by the concerned departments, the order stated.
