Meghalaya: District task force meets in Tura for smooth delivery of COVID-19 vaccine
TURA:
A District Task Force meeting was held to discuss the various procedures concerning the COVID-19 vaccine at the Circuit House Conference Hall in Tura on Thursday.
“It was very welcoming and relieving to have a remedy against the dreaded COVID-19 virus which has been tormenting people around the world for almost a year now. Therefore, it was imperative to prepare ourselves and have systems and logistics ready in a place like cold storage and sensitising the people against any rumour-mongering and negative publicity about the new vaccine,” Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh said.
Singh also stated that with the onset of winter and Christmas celebrations around the corner, COVID-19 cases are likely to surge.
Singh admitted that while the festivities cannot be stopped, people, especially the elderly, are to maintain safety protocols.
Meanwhile, District Maternity & Child Officer Ivonne M. Sangma, who is also a designated Nodal Officer, narrated the various preparatory stages for vaccination and said that in-depth and comprehensive planning is required to launch the vaccination campaign.
