The Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) accompanied by members of West Khasi Hills District Cricket Association (WKHDCA), on Thursday, visited Mawlumiang in Mawiawet village for site inspection of the proposed cricket ground in West Khasi Hills District.
Members of the MCA signed the lease agreement in the presence of officials from the West Khasi Hills District Cricket Association and other stakeholders.
MCA General Secretary Gideon Kharkongor said that the Association has tried several times to develop the game of cricket in the State.
“This game is newly introduced in other districts of the State except Shillong and Tura hence the MCA feels that to develop the sport of cricket in such a District we need to have our own playground,” Kharkongor said.
The MCA is happy to see that the District Cricket Association produces more state players in the women’s category and lauded the efforts of the West Khasi Hills District Cricket Association for conducting tournaments and coaching camps in the District.
The MCA General Secretary urged upon the youths of the District to work hard since this game has a bright future for youngsters.
