Meghalaya COVID-19 Guidelines: Fresh relaxations announced

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya government on Tuesday has relaxed the restrictions imposed in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"A review meeting relating to restrictions issued from time to time by the government in connection with the fight against covid-19 was held today (Feb 02)," Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said.

Here are the fresh relaxations of COVID-19 restrictions:

-- Night curfew from 11 pm to 5 am will continue till further order.

-- Odd-Even system in Public Transportation as far as Shillong city is concerned is withdrawn, but the system will continue for Private Transportation till further order.

-- Restriction on religious places has been relaxed. The capacity has been increased to 75 per cent of the total strength of members.

-- On functions of religious groups (meetings, conferences), the capacity has been increased from one-third to 75 per cent.

-- The Government has allowed reopening up of hostels; Private crèches will be allowed to open in the entire state.

-- Social Gatherings (Dorbar functions in village or locality level): From one-third, the capacity has been increased to 75 per cent of total intake of attendees. This will also include private gatherings and functions.

-- All Sports activities are allowed; however, the number of attendees has been restricted to 75 per cent.

-- All Tourist Spots will be opened. Restrictions are completely lifted with immediate effect and children below 10 years along with senior citizens are allowed to visit the tourist spots in the State.

-- Restrictions lifted in private business organisations. 100 per cent allowed with immediate effect.
