SHILLONG | SEPT 12, 2020:

People from containment areas faced difficulties today as it took many hours to get themselves tested at the Shillong Civil Hospital.

"I had arrived in Civil Hospital at around noon. But till 4 pm I am still clueless when I would be called to do the test. I am hungry and feel exhausted since I have not had my food. I am also vulnerable since I am a diabetic patient," a lady from Laban said.

"No one is aware from among us who are positive since the results are awaited," an old lady from Polo said.

"The precautions which we have taken has gone down the drain," she added.

According to her, the Health Department should have made a special arrangement for people coming from containment areas and also for the senior citizens.

"I know they are tired and exhausted especially donning the PPE for several hours is not an easy task."

But they are doing their work with great dedication," the old lady added.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Alexander Laloo acknowledged that there are hiccups due to the shortage of manpower.

He assured that he would try to rectify the discrepancies which are there so that people do not have face hardships when they go for testing.
