Meghalaya CM seeks additional funds from Centre for completion of various projects
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has sought additional funds from the Centre for the completion of the Shillong International Centre for Performing Arts & Culture (SICPAC).
Sangma made the request known during a meeting with the Minister for Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Dr Jitendra Singh, in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister was also accompanied by Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, and Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar.
"(We have) also requested his (DoNER minister) intervention for the sanction of the remaining road projects under North East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERSDS) especially the Mawshynrut-Hahim Road and Borkhat-Sonapur Road," Sangma posted on his official Facebook page.
The state leaders also submitted a memorandum, requesting an additional sanction of Rs. 23 Crore for the completion of the above-mentioned projects.
On the same day, Sangma also met the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, to discuss the shares of central taxes for the tribal belts and other financial matters.
The Chief Minister also met three other union ministers - Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda, Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Minister of Ministry of Culture Prahlad Singh Patel, in New Delhi on Wednesday.
During his meeting with Arjun Munda, Sangma discussed matters related to education, scholarships and funding for projects under the Tribal Affairs Ministry.
"Also apprised the Hon'ble Minister of the #Meghalaya Youth Policy that will shape the future of the youth of our State," Sangma tweeted.
The Meghalaya CM also discussed matters relating to the extension of Aadhar seeding with the union minister of Ministry of Rural Development, Narendra Singh Tomar.
"Also apprised him on the progress of Aadhar enrolment, MGNREGA, PMAY-G & NSAP in #Meghalaya & sought the support of the Ministry for the release of funds," Sangma said.
During his meeting with the Union Minister of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel, Sangma discussed the proposed construction of the Tagore Cultural Complex at Rilbong in Shillong under the Tagore Cultural Complex Scheme.
"Met with Hon'ble Union Home Minister, Sh. Amit Shah Ji with Hon'ble Deputy CM and Hon'ble PHE Minister and had a fruitful discussion about matters that require Centre's immediate attention," he added a post to his Facebook page.
