Meghalaya CM inaugurates new school building in Williamnagar

WILLIAMNAGAR:

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, inaugurated the newly constructed school building of Rongrenggre Model Deficit Secondary School at Chidekgre near Williamnagar on November 26.

While inaugurating the school building, which is worth Rs 1.6 crore, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma applauded the Hindustan Steelworks Construction Limited for completing the construction within a short timeframe.

The CM said that the priority of the government is to improve education in the state. Rs 500 crore have been earmarked for the education department in this financial year, and an additional Rs 800 crore have been received from the Central Government for Ekalavya Model Residential Schools in Meghalaya.

He also informed that Rs 200 crore special fund has also been received from the Central Government for improving the educational infrastructure in the state. He further informed that the scholarship for the students in the state has also been enhanced and said that the Youth Policy will be finalised by January next year to promote the skill and talent of the youth.

The inauguration ceremony was in the presence of Williamnagar MLA and the Government Chief Whip, Marcuise N Marak, the Director of Higher and Technical Education, Ambrose Ch Marak, former GHADC Chairman, Denang T Sangma, East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Swapnil Tembe, CEO of Hindustan Steelworks Construction Limited (HSCL), PK Swamy and other dignitaries.
