Meghalaya: BSF organises civic action programme in Jaintia Hills

KHLIEHRIAT:

To serve the border area population and to inculcate a sense of security among them, the Border Security Force (BSF), on Thursday, organised a civic action programme along the Indo-Bangla border area of Harai (East Jaintia Hills).

During the civic action programme, the BSF unit distributed a range of essential items to villagers falling under Harai, Hungaria, Barsora, Laijuri, Lailong, Kuliang, Umkiang and Rattachera.

The programme was inaugurated by Hardeep Singh, Inspector General, Frontier Headquarter, Meghalaya in the presence of Subhash Chandra, Sector Deputy Inspector General, Jowai.

The event marked the distribution of items like sports kits, stationery, medicines and electronic appliances worth over ₹ 8,50,000/-.

Approximately 500 civilians joined the programme and expressed their happiness and gratitude on the friendly gesture showed by the bordermen.

Hailing the charitable programme organised as a part of social service, the BSF Meghalaya unit assured to continue such efforts in future and also informed that the para-military force stands committed towards the service of humanity.
