Meghalaya BJP welcomes Congress's offer to join the chorus in raising issues against MDA Govt

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Meghalaya has welcomed the offer of the opposition Congress to join the chorus in raising issues against the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition government led by the National People’s Party (NPP).
“We welcome the statement of the Congress leader, Ampareen Lyngdoh that the opposition is ready to speak out and join the chorus in raising its voice against the alleged rampant corruption and illegalities of the incumbent government,” Meghalaya BJP state president Ernest Mawrie said on Monday.
According to him, the opposition Congress should play a more proactive role in slamming the wrongdoings of the MDA Government.
“It will benefit the people of the state if the Congress raised its voice against the rampant corruption and illegalities of the State Government,” Mawrie said.
The Meghalaya BJP state president also said that the opposition should expose the state on the illegal mining and transportation of coal.
“I am of the view that the opposition Congress is not doing enough to expose the illegalities of the NPP led MDA Government. It is time for the Congress to raise its voice on the failure of the state government to provide the people of the state clean and corruption-free governance,” Mawrie added.
Earlier, senior Congress leader, Ampareen Lyngdoh stated that they would sing in chorus with the BJP if they are also raising issues of alleged rampant corruption and illegalities of the ruling MDA coalition Government.
Ampareen was reacting over the decision of the state BJP leaders to submit the RTI findings to the Union Minister of States, (Home) JK Reddy on corruption charges of the incumbent government.

Pointing out that one can always make allegations of corruption charges against the Government, he, however, said that the opposition like the public cannot see what is going on inside.
“We can only presume if we see hundreds of trucks plying on the highways with truckloads of coal since the ban on mining of coal is yet to be lifted. We only (want) that coal should be auctioned as per the directive of the court. But we have not read or heard of any auctioning taking place barring East Khasi Hills that brought out a fresh notification,” Lyngdoh said.
