The All Meghalaya Minority Students’ Union (AMMSU) has written to the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills (WGH) pointing to the fact that many villages under the Selsella C&RD Block have been left out with regards to flood relief distribution in 2020.

In a complaint submitted on January 5, AMMSU listed the names of Namabilla, Haripur, Konarchar, Silkata, Char Kasiapara, Lalmati, Hallidayganj, Kasaripara, Sakmal and Sobribari, among those villages that have been left out of being provided relief while the rest of the villages under the same district have been provided utensil sets as had been provisioned.

Last year, the plain belt area, comprising the four C&RD Blocks of Raksamgre, Tikrikilla, Demdema and Selsella had been badly affected by the yearly deluge because of the rains leading to many villagers struggling with rising waters.
