Meghalaya: ‘A dark Christmas for GHADC employees,’ says Bernard Marak

TURA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Meghalaya in a press release on December 17, contended that Christmas in Garo Hills was set to be dark for many employees in Garo Hills, especially those are employed with the GHADC.

The BJP further blamed rampant corruption as the sole reason for the many problems plaguing the state.

“It is going to be a dark Christmas for many employees in Garo Hills because of rampant corruption in the state. Christmas used to be the happiest time of the year, but now it’s going to be an excruciating time for many Christians,” said state vice president, Bernard Marak through a press release.

“The Chief Minister needs to address the problems of the people immediately by releasing all dues, proving that he can take responsibility over such a crisis and that his no corruption slogan is manifested through his deeds,” added Bernard.

The BJP leader, however, added that while the BJP was silent, it was not blind to what was happening.

Bernard added that the GHADC secretary, who was presently in Shillong to solve the crisis, was doing her best but remained at the mercy of political leaders.

The burden, as per the BJP, now lies with the Governor and the 2 state officers looking after the GHADC.

“The BJP expresses solidarity with all those who are desperately voicing out for their dues. We request the BJP state president, Ernest Mawrie, to start a bail-out package for the Council. The ‘Peace Pact’ agreement is the only way out before the leaders of the state move to scrap GHADC on the pretext of failure to manage itself,” asserted Bernard.
