MDA shows ‘serious commitment’ to Inner-Line Permit issue, says Meghalaya CM

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma said that the previous Government had done nothing on the issue of ILP even as asserting that the MDA shows its serious commitment to this long pending demand by passing a resolution.

“We have shown our commitment to this long pending issue by passing a resolution. We have taken steps which none of the previous government in the past has done,” Sangma told reporters.

Talking about the Union Government’s action towards giving its assent to the Inner Line Permit in the state, CM Conrad Sangma said, “Several meetings have been held with the Union Home Minister and we are working towards achieving this aim.”

Informing different stakeholders have requested appointments with the Union Home Minister during his visit on January 23, Chief Minister Sangma said, “We have sent the message since the letters have been forwarded through the Chief Secretary to us.”

“The State government has sent a request to the Union Home Ministry on this aspect,” added Sangma.
