Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla likely to visit Meghalaya in Feb last week

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in New Delhi on Monday to apprise him on the progress of the construction of the new Assembly building at New Shillong Township.

"This is the second time that we are meeting him (Om Birla) to update him on the progress of the construction of the new Assembly building," Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh said.

Lyngdoh also informed that the CM has already apprised the Lok Sabha Speaker of the constraints and difficulties faced by the state government and has sought the intervention of the Centre to ensure that the commission of this new building is done on time.

The State leaders also invited the Lok Sabha Speaker to visit the state, to give audience to all members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.

Lyngdoh informed that a tentative date has been fixed around Feb 25 or 26 and the final date will be intimated to the State very soon do that all preparation will be done.
