Five dead, three injured in traffic collision in South Garo Hills

Five people died in a traffic collision at Nongalbibra in South Garo Hills on Wednesday. The dead include two children and three women.

Three others are in critical condition and have been rushed to Guwahati for treatment.

The accident took place around 11:30 pm near Pathargittim under Nongalbibra Police Station.

The passengers were travelling in a Mahindra pickup when the accident occurred.

Sources state that the driver of the pickup was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into a parked truck.

Four of the victims died on the spot, and one was declared dead after reaching the Williamnagar Civil Hospital.
