SHILLONG: In a joint operation conducted by security forces and Assam police on Thursday, a huge cache of explosives was seized from a car near Malidor village located along the Assam-Meghalaya border.

After receiving specific inputs, the joint operation team intercepted two smugglers in a car transporting explosives on NH-37 near Gumrah toll barrier in Malidor village.

The recovered items included 542 Gelatine explosives, 600 electronic detonators and Rs 11,260 Indian currency.

The arrested individuals and the recovered items were forwarded to Gumrah Police Station for further investigation.
