Assam, Meghalaya police discuss border management plan, trans-national crimes

A high-level meeting was held on Thursday between Meghalaya Police and the West Karbi Anglong police department at Sabuda village under Raid Nongtung in Ri Bhoi district.

The objective of the meeting was to bring peace and tranquillity among residents living in the border areas of Meghalaya and Assam.

The Meghalaya Police Department delegation was led by Superintendent of Police, Ri Bhoi, N. Lamare and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarter), V.D.S Rymbai.

On the other hand, West Karbi Anglong District was represented by Superintendent of Police Dr R. Gaur and Additional Superintendent of Police M. Zawlsangmawi.

According to sources, the meeting aimed to discuss maintaining peace and tranquillity along the inter-state border.

The discussion also focused on close coordination to reduce cross border crime and wipe out anti-social elements that threaten national security.
