SHILLONG

All India Congress Committee (AICC), Meghalaya in-charge Manish Chatrath, will make his two-day maiden visit to Shillong on January 10.

Chatrath during his visit to Shillong is likely to hold some key discussions with party members of the state.

Sources within the Congress party have informed that the newly appointed AICC Meghalaya in charge will probably discuss the appointment of the new party president in Meghalaya.

The incumbent party president Dr Celestine Lyngdoh, whose term expired in December 2020, is likely to be replaced and there are a few names in the list.

Two senior members for the post Charles Pyngrope and Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh have expressed their desire to take over the key role.

The visit by the AICC Meghalaya in-charge is said to be crucial because it comes when BJP leaders are frequenting North-East regularly, which the Congress has been critical about.
