Meghalaya: This Diwali, District authority bans sale of imported crackers
SHILLONG: This Diwali, burst crackers with caution, says the East Khasi district administration. While the city is preparing for the fun-filled and joyous celebration of Diwali, the district administration on the other hand, is keeping a close watch on the type of fire crackers to be sold out to the public, keeping in mind the health and safety of the general public.
In line with this, the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, Peter S Dkhar has directed all the temporary fireworks license holders within district not to sell imported fireworks or firecrackers of foreign origin which are hazardous in nature and jeopardize public safety and health.
The direction also came with a warning. "Anyone found violating the order will be viewed with seriously, government statement stated," said the DC.
