The dreaded swine flu has re-emerged in the state and has already claimed its first victim when a patient ailed with the disease passed away on Sunday.
The patient, a 58-year-old woman from Arbuthnot, was admitted at Nazareth Hospital on October 17 and showed multiple symptoms – fever, cough and respiratory distress.
Reports say that woman from Mumbai has also been quarantined at Nazareth Hospital after testing positive for swine flu (H1N1). She came to the capital city for a convention but has since been admitted to a hospital after developing the same symptoms.
An alert has been sounded to all hospitals, confirmed Health Secretary Pravin Bakshi adding that the state is ready to tackle the disease as it has an adequate amount of Tamiflu tablets for treating H1N1.
