Tura | Oct 29, 2018:
The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers' Association (AGHSSASTA) submitted a memorandum highlighting their demands to the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, through Kharkutta MLA and NPP leader, Rupert Momin.
Through the memorandum, the teachers first sought the enhancement of teachers' salaries.
"We have been patient with the meager salaries received and that too not regularly. This has been causing us tremendous hardships due to the rise in cost of living and the cost of educating our children. We seek that salaries may be enhanced to Rs 45,000 per month to be at par with other school teachers," stated the memo.
Further the teachers also sought for regular salary payments to be made on a monthly basis and not once in 5-6 months as had been happening.
AGHSSASTA also raised the demand for the immediate release of their pending arrears for the years 2016-2017 while also asking for their services to be regularized.
"Most of us have been working over 10 years despite which our services have not been regularized like other states," added the memo.
The Association added that the NPP MLA had assured them to take up the matter with the CM, Conrad Sangma.
