Meghalaya: Spate of accidents reported over weekend leaving 5 people injured

Spate of accident cases have been reported across the state over the weekend. Disturbingly, it has been reported that weekend accidents have become a trend and this has been ascertained by EMRI 108 Ambulance services that stated that majority of the road accident cases happen during the weekends.

This weekend (Oct 27 and 28), four accident cases were reported from across the state leaving 5 people injured.

In the first case, one Jobinstar Lyngdoh (23) sustained injuries after he was hit by a car while he was riding a bike at Pynthorbah around 11.42 pm on Saturday. First aid and wound care done and victim was Shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong by 108 Shillong  Base Ambulance.

In another case, one Dashindra Marak (43) was hit by a moving bike while walking on the road side at 3rd Mile in Upper Shillong at around 5.33 pm on Saturday. Patient sustained bruises, spasm with minor injuries; first aid was given and he was later shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong by 108 Laitumkhrah Base Ambulance.

In the third case, two persons sustained injuries after the Jeep they were travelling in was hit by a JNNURM SPTS Bus at Lad Umsaw around 2:04 pm on Sunday. The victims have been identified as Lasiewdor Mawrie (7) & Sikkim Mawrie (45).

Both the victims sustained major injuries and were later shifted to Bhoirymbong CHC by 108 Bhoirymbong base ambulance.

In another case, one Adrian Syiemlieh (19) met with an accident, when his scooty skidded; the rider lost control and fell at Ryndang briew at 3:34 pm on Sunday.

Victim sustained chest injury with breathing difficulties, pre-hospital care was given and was shifted to NEIGRIHMS by 108 Shillong Civil base Ambulance.
