Meghalaya: Police nabs two HNLC accomplices from Shillong
SHILLONG: Shillong Police on Friday arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in circulating demand notes with HNLC letter heads in Shillong and its suburb.
According to the police, on getting information of a few demand notes being circulated in Shillong City and its suburbs by HNLC, the District Police geared up its intelligence. Based on intelligence inputs, police arrested Vincent Khyriem (27) hailing from Mawlai Mawtawar.
On interrogation, the accused admitted to having circulated the demand notes sent to him from Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, later in the evening, his accomplice identified as Wankarlang Rynjah (22) of Demseiniong was also picked up."Police investigation will reveal the number of people who have actually responded to the demand notes and paid the amount," EKH SP M Kharkrang said adding that police will further investigated into the matter to ascertain the number of accomplices of the arrested persons, if any.
Police seized 2(two) mobiles and 10(ten) Sim cards of different Service Providers from the possession of the arrested persons. "The District Police is taking all steps to ensure that no militant groups are allowed to make in-roads into the district," Kharkrang added.
