The court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Ms D.G. Kharshiing reserved the judgment after the trial of the case relating to former Bangladesh MP, Salahuddin Ahmed ended today.

The trial of the case had been going in the Shillong Lower Court for more than three years now.

Sources informed that the court has reserved the judgment after the trial of the case completed today and the court has not yet fixed the hearing for pronouncement of the judgment on the case.

It may be mentioned that the court recorded the statement of around 11 witnesses, including police and doctors.

On July 22 2015 , the lower court had formally framed the charges against Ahmed under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946, for surfacing in India (Shillong) without valid documents.

Ahmed, the joint secretary of the BNP, was found moving aimlessly in the Golf Links area here on May 11, 2015. Meghalaya police arrested him for entering a foreign country, allegedly without valid documents.

Earlier, Ahmed had claimed that he was abducted in Bangladesh and did not know how he was brought to Shillong.
